Brown Sophie Bag

Finished my first Sophie bag today! It was knit with one skein of Cascade 220, color number 8013 (medium brown) and scraps of dark purple and light green (Celery) Cascade 220. I only took about 20 minutes in the washer to get to the size and density I wanted and ready to block and dry. I like this little bag - it actually looks larger in the picture than I think it really is - it's a nice size to carry just a few things, and so economical to make! I have plans to make at least a couple more in different colors. I've given away every bag I've made so far, so I think that I'll keep this one for myself. Felted Entrelac Bag

Well, I have to say that my experiment turned out pretty well. The bag took about 25 minutes to felt and shrunk down about the amount I wanted it to. Because it came out very fuzzy, I shaved it with a disposable razor. Even my hubby thought that it was neat! This was made with 3 skeins of Noro Kureyon.

Entrelac Experiment

I went to a class to learn how to do entrelac. When I saw how it was coming out, I decided that I had to make something out of the rectangle that I ended up with. I then folded it in half, added an I-cord handle and made a bag. It is rather flimsy in this state, so I then experimented with felting it. See that on the next post!

Purple Buttonhole Bag

I finished my second felted bag - love it! I actually knit this one in one night, wove in the ends the second night and felted it. I used Cascade 220, a dark purple and a medium purple. Some times I used the colors by themselves, and a couple of times I combined the dark and medium together to give a tweedy look. It took about 25 minutes in washer to felt and came out quite fuzzy as I felted it down a lot. After shaving, it's ready to give as a gift to my sister-in-law who loves purple, knits, and hasn't tried felting yet.

The Yarn Lady

OK - I was looking for some Cascade 220 and called all of my LYS's and nobody carried it! Bummer. That necessitated a trip over to The Yarn Lady in Laguna Hills to get what I NEEDED. Truly a great store - they have so much and carry quite a variety of colors of each yarn. Took me an hour to pick out just the above. I hope that this will keep me felting for a while!

Michigan Yarn Finds

was While in Michigan recently for two weeks, taking care of my parents, I was able to visit two yarn stores - A Basketfull of Yarn in Clarkston, and Heritage Spinning and Weaving in Lake Orion. I haven't seen any of these yummy yarns at my LYS's so just had to buy some. Alpaca, silk/wool combo, alpaca/silk combo and cotton/wool combo. Can't wait to start something.!
